NEW GRIFFIN-SPALDING COUNTY AIRPORT | 6A2
Airport Site Selection Study
The existing airport is impractical for current and future demand, as encroachment of incompatible land uses prevent expansion or upgrade. The two-phase site selection process utilized a GIS suitability model extensively to determine if a potential new airport site existed in the County. Eight feasible sites were refined to evaluate environmental, operational, and constructability considerations. The final site was chosen by the City and County and land acquisition is currently underway.
